Abstract
The growth of Salmonella enteritidis and Staphylococcus aureus in a comercial formula, at 37ºC and room temperature in several periods of incubation, was studied. The infantile formula was an excellent culture medium for both microorganisms. In four hours of incubation the number of bacteria was similar to the growth of bacteria in conventional cultures. The importance of the decontamination process and the rapid consume of the formula by the infants are emphasized.
