Abstract

Seizures of the newborn are identified by direct observation, but some motor phenomena and behaviors characterized as seizures do not register discharges in the EEG and on the contrary, electroencephalographic seizures are not accompanied by clinically observable alterations. These subtle seizures frequently occur in the newborns and should be controlled in many cases by video-EEG monitorization that shows the cerebral origin of motor alterations which express an epileptic origin of the discharge in many severe cases, such as the case described, with infraclinial oculoclonic attacks, that finally develop an incomplete West Syndrome.
