Abstract

One of the fundamental parts in Pediatric Rheumatology is the exploration of the locomotor apparatus, which must be rigorous, complete and systematic. The exploration must always be accompanied by a meticulous clinical history in which rheumatic and autoimmune family history is recorded, main symptom and its main characteristics and other associated symptoms. An easy way to learn how to explore the musculoskeletal system can begin by evaluating general attitude and walking, followed by an articular exploration initiated in the cervical spine and temporomandibular joints, continuing through the upper limbs and subsequently the lower limbs up to the feet. Finally, an assessment of muscle strength must be made, emphasizing the proximal strength of the scapular and pelvic waist, which are the most affected in childhood rheumatic diseases.
