Abstract

This paper studies several epidemiological aspects of bronchiolitis in 155 hospitalized infants during a period of time from January 1984 until June 1985. There are two epidemic incidence peaks during February and March each year. This disease was more frequent in infants less that 6 month of age with predominance in males. There was not difference with a control group concerning the number of si blings or maternal alimentation but the hygienic characteristics of the house and urban procedence were important factors. The paper analyse possible risk factors during fetal and neonatal age.
