Abstract
The biochemistry, physiology and clinical aspects of protein C and antithrombin III are revised. Both proteins plays a major physiologic role in the regulation of blood coagulation as part of a thrombin-dependent feedback inhibition of coagulation pathaways. The phatologic properties of protein C and antithrombin III in humans has been demostrated by the discovery that congenital deficiencies are associated with thromboembolic disease.
