Abstract

The gastroesophageal reflux (ger) has become a complete functional entity due to its high frequence and its better diagnosis with new exploratory techniques. The lower oesophageal sphincter control the cardias continence and the authors show the physiological factors and the exogenous factors which can modify the pressions in the lower oesophageal sphincter. The clinical picture is different according to the age. Gastrointestinal symptoms are very common in infants. Respiratory manifestations appear after 2 year of age and they are very misleading. The clinical picture of newborn is the most recently described. The GER could also be related to sudden infant death syndrome. The School of Bordeaux provides his prolonged experience in cinegastro-scintigraphy which is compared to other follow-up techniques. It is more physiological and the hospitalization is not needed.
