Abstract
The C-reactive protein from serum (sCRP) and cerebrospinal fluid (fCRP) was measured by immunonephelometry in 26 children with meningitis. In lymphocytic meningitis the sCRP was lesser than in bacterial meningitis (p : 0,02). There was no correlation between sCRP and proteins or cells from CSF, neither between cells and fCRP. Nevertheless the correlation between fCRP and proteins from CSF was very high (p < 0,0001). The CRP may contribute to diagnosis of bacterial meningitis.
