Abstract
Although well known, the hypoglycemia in the infants of Diabetic Mothers has not been studied strictly as related to the close follow-up of the glycemic levels, and it has been influenced by the dominant hypothesis of hyperinsulinism. In this study, with a total of 100 newborns, 65 of them delivered from a diabetic mother, the relation of the early hypoglycemic changes with de degree of maternal
metabolic control, hyperinsulinism, blockage capacity of B-cell and especially the insensibility of the A-cell in front of the hypoglycemia is weel demonstrated. The last one is the most important factor among the ones cited above and is especially impaired in the Infants of Diabetic Mothers with poor control.
