Abstract

The clinical and echocardiographic parameters, in patients with congenital heart disease with arteriovenous shunt are studied in order to establish surgical indications without cardiac catheterization. The correlations among clinical multivariate formula and TM, and cros sectional echocardiographic applications, are made; and also between them and the data obtained from catheterisme and surgical procedures in the same patients. There is a good correlation between echo and surgical data in anatomical measurement in patients with atrial septal defect (r = 0,99; p < 0,001) and ductus arteriosus (r = 0,95; p < 0,01). Significant correlation was also found between clinal (QP/QS) and radiological (C/T ratio) data in ventricular septal defect (r = 0,73; p < 0,01), and between clinical and hemodynamic data of the pulmonary and aortic pressure ratio (r = 0,72; p< 0,05). The clinical studies and the non aggressive explorations are able to give more anatomic information such as true functional diagnosis. These new explorations could be used to establish surgical operations in some prevalent congenital heart diseases.
