Abstract
The case of a 12 month-old male child with multiple abscesses in both cerebellar hemispheres secondary to an infected dermoid cyst is reported. The patient was treated exclusively with intravenous chloramphenicol for six weeks. The CT scan performed one and one half months after the end of treatment showed a recovery «ad integrum». The factors that might modify the outcome of the antibiotic therapy are discussed together with the therapeutic criteria for patients with cerebral abscesses.
