Abstract

The mechanisms of bronchial hyperreativity in children are reviewed. The parasympathetic and alpha-adrenergic system, the release mediators cells and the sensorial neuropeptid are discussed among factors that can enhance the airways obstruction. The  bronchodilatation mechanisms are also considered. They are meanly the beta-adrenergic and the non-adrenergic system. Nevertheless, humoral factors as cathecholamines and prostaglandins are also important in bronchial regulación. The significance of these systems on clinical status, like asthma, spastic bronchitis, chronic cough and recurrent neumonías are discussed.
