Abstract

The authors report their experience about the prognosis of status epilepticus, analyzing the follow-up of 99 patients with this situation. The immediate mortality occurred in 1/99 cases (1,01 %). Sequelae appeared in 56 patients (57 %): mental retard in 30 (53 %), epilepsia in 27 (48 %) and motor deficiencies in 16 (28 %). The length of the crisis was the only factor with a significant importance in the production of sequelae.
