Abstract
Objetive: To present the caseof a young infant with a diagnosis of congenital lobar emphysema (CLE); as well as the prevalence of cases of this lung malformation in a 17-year review carried out al the Pediatric Specialty Hospital (PSH) in the state of Chiapas.
Case Report: This is a female minor infant, born in the city of Teopisca, Chiapas, México. Without significant personal or pathological history, mother with irregular prenatal control, obstetric ultrasounds without alterations. The condition began on the 2nd day of extrauterine life, with perioral cyanosis and respiratory difficulty characterized by thoracoabdominal dissociation and intercostal indrawing. CLE was diagnosed, her evolution was torpid with progressive respiratory dificulty requiring mechanical ventilation support and he died during a second hospitalization
Conclusion: CLE is a rare lung malformation whit a wide range of presentarions, which poses a diagnostic-therapeutic dilemma and is associated whit high morbidity and mortality.
