Abstract

Authors study the facilities carried out in the Pediatric Emergency Service of the University Hospital in Valladolid, through 1986, 1987, and the first six months of 1988. A significative increase (p<0,001) in the number of patients in 1987 concerning to 1986 is observed. This situation remained in 1988, as well. Distribution of patients according to several criteria is analized. Specifically, these criteria are: month of year, week of year, day of month, day af week, hour af day, and sex and age of children. The causes of these attendances are also detailed in a sample of patients. The short need of additional studies (9,15 %), interconsultations (7,1 %) and hospital admittances (6,88 %) is underlined in out study, and likely causes of this situation are reparted.
