Premature thelarche

Abstract

Premature thelarche or isolated precocious development of breasts is a form of disociated isosexual precocity. It is related to isolated, uni or bilateral, precocious development of marnmary glands without a simultaneous development of nipples nor other signs of puberty, before eight years of age. Premature 'thelarche is likely a rnanifestation af incomplete sexual development, due to a transient maturation disturb of hypothalamic-pituitary-peripheral target axis. In this artiche, the clinical, radiological, endocrinological and etiological aspects are reviewed.
