Abstract

A study of fluoride levels was performed in 740 samples of public water supply from Cantabria; these samples carne from municipal network, public fountains, springs and wells. No sample got the ideal level (1 mg/l) advised by the WHO for prevention of caries; the 93.9 % of samples has < 0.1 mg/l. It is concluded that Cantabria is one of the regions in which the fluoridation of waters is advisable and meanwhile additional suppliers of fluoride must to be used in Primary Pediatrics with the following dosage: 0-2 years old, 0.25 mg/day; 2-3 years, 0.5 mg/d, and older than 3 years 1 mg/d.
