Abstract
Tuberculosis still remains a frequent disease in our country. One-two percent of the cases involved either the bone or the joints. In the hip, the disease presents as a monoarthritis with a chronic course. Differential diagnosis includes toxic synovitis, Perthes syndrome and arthritis of another etiology. We discuss a five years old boy with tuberculosis of the hip and we recommend performance of the Mantoux test in all forms of monoarthritis.
