Abstract
We explain the case of a twelve month old female who, suffering an episode of viral gastroenteritis, was treated with the oral rehydration solution from the WHO in a correct dilution, but with an excessive and exclusive ingestion of such solution (three litres during twenty-four hours) which caused hypernatremia. We must point out the effectiveness of this solution, so it is important to use it adequately and under supervision.
