Abstract
A new case of delayed onset diaphragmatic hernia in a child with an group B streptococcal infection is reported. Although the causes are unclear, the most accepted hypothesis establishes the possibility that a pneumonia would delay the presentation of the diaphragmatic hernia, closing the anatomic defect. The clinical picture showed a newborn not being able to improve his respiratory symptoms in spite of a correct therapy, even the distress went worse. The diagnosis is mainly done by radiography and ultrasonography and the treatment is always surgical with success in almost 100 % of cases.
