Abstract

When acne has been clasified, an apropiate therapeutic plan can be iniciated. Topic treatment only an be used for mild forms of acne, whilst rnoderate and severe forrns require both, topical and systemic therapy. Any forrn of treatrnent should be carried for a prolonged period of time, sometimes even years.
Antibiotics like clindamycin are highly active as topic treatments. Systemic therapy should be used when there are marked inflamatory features. Antibiotics (mainly tetracycline) and retinoids are widely used.
