Abstract

Acne could be defined as the dermatological condition resulting from follicular and sebaceus canal obstruction, sorrounded by peripheric inflamatory reaction. Comedons, papullae, pustullae, nodules cysts and scurring formation are its main features. They can be found over the skin of face, chest and upper back predominantly.
Several factors including hiperkeratosis of sebaceus canal and altered sebum production, have been implicated in the pathogenesis. They lead to subsequent biochemical changes in the surface fluids and the comensal bacteria. All these factors might be regulated by hormonal stimuli, total or partially. These are pre-morbid or pre-acne pictures, followed by pathological acne, in which four degrees of severity could be distinguished.
