Abstract

The preliminary results of a study on the influence of the type of lactancy in the behavior of several anthropometric variables at 3 months of life in a group of 20 children with very low weight is presented. Statistical differences were found in favor of artificial feeding for the brachial circumference, the brachial circumference ratio/cephalic circumference, muscular area and fat area. Based on these findings, some comments or reflections are made regarding feeding of the pre-term and low weight child in this stage.
