Abstract

Tietze syndrom is a benign inflamation spotted in the costal breastbone joint or condrocostal of unknown cause in infants. A study took place to detect this in our area througt out a year in a casualty hospital and during the same period a prospective study in a pediatric consult in primary attention. As an inclusion criteria, the presence of costalpain or costocondral pain has been used and tumoration in the area. This syndrome was only found in 10 year olds and older, being more frequent in low costal cartilage the complementary test were normal. The treatment consisted of analgesics and/or antiinflamatories with a favorable resolution, althoug a case required esteroids s well and non pharmacologic therapy(TENS). This syndrom has be considered to avoid sophisticated test and studies, being the clinic the most useful element when suspected.
