Abstract
Abstract We present the most common surgical emergencies on paediatric population except for trauma related injuries. Abdominal pain, appendicitis, intussusception, incarcerated inguinal hernia, hypertrophic pyloric stenosis, foreing bodies, caustic ingestions and torsion of the testis, are described focus on paediatric primary health care. We have developed a summary of epidemiology data, the usual signs and symptoms, the diagnostic approach, the first aid procedures and the management strategy without detail in surgical techniques. A better understanding of these problems in infants and children will provide to the paediatrician and surgeon the chance to offer the optimal children health care.
