Abstract
Abstract Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) is an acquired demyelinating disease of the central nervous system that occurs more frequently during childhood, generally after infections or vaccinations and that usually evolves monophasically. We describe the clinical case of a five year old girl, who after a non-specific tonsil infection, presented a picture of ADEM, that initially evolved favorably, but that relapsed some days after with neurological symptoms having a different location, with an evolutive pattern characteristic of multiphasic disseminated encephalomyelitis. The differential diagnosis stands out, especially complex in some cases, as in the present, and the therapeutic alternatives.
