Abstract

Abstract Hereditary motor and sensory neuropathies form a wide group of conditions in which clinical expressivity is maximal in adults but whose onset may occur in childhood, sometimes in a concealed way. That is why their diagnosis at an early age rests on the pediatrician who should provide appropriate genetic counseling. This report is an updated review of these diseases, in which some of the classifications used are commented, the various forms according to heredity and clinical manifestations are analyzed, and most recent genetic issues published in the literature are described.
